Why project discovery is so important

Find out how you can minimize your risk and make your project a success!

Most companies have a good idea of what they want, but don’t know how to translate that vision into a functioning website that helps them achieve their goals.

To do this, you need to have the answers to many questions…

  • Which platform is best for you?
  • Which software licenses will you need?
  • What content (text, images, videos) needs to be created?
  • What legal requirements do you have to comply with?
  • How can the website be integrated into your existing systems and strategies?
  • How will they find you?
  • Who will maintain and update your website?
  • How will you measure success?
  • Most companies don’t know the answers to these questions – and that’s a good thing.

Working together, we can turn your vision into a viable project plan that answers all these questions (and more!) to make your project a success.

This is done through a process called a “discovery meeting”.

What is a discovery meeting?

The exploration is an approx. 60-minute interview in which I ask you about the requirements and objectives of your project. This includes things like:

Determination of the exact functionalities, software and integrations
Defining the structure of the website and the required content
Understanding of all legal requirements (data protection, accessibility, etc.)
Identification of your goals and key performance indicators (KPIs)
This allows us to plan the fastest, most effective and least risky way to complete your project.

Once the reconnaissance tour is complete, we will provide you with a detailed project plan for your website, a realistic schedule and an exact price.

At this point, you can proceed with the project or pass our concept on to other agencies (who will be amazed at how well prepared you are!).

Do we need to hold a discovery meeting?

No, we don’t have to do a reconnaissance – but I’ve done it often enough to know that it’s one of the most important steps for a successful project.

Without proper planning, most projects undergo multiple rounds of changes (which drives up costs), work is repeated due to misunderstandings (which lengthens the timeline), and the end result is less cohesive (which is less likely to help you achieve your goals).

For projects that are not explored, the costs are usually very high due to the uncertainty and risk involved.

Ultimately, the decision is up to you – do you want to roll the dice or lay your cards on the table?

How much does the discovery meeting cost?

The fee for the disclosure is CHF 550, which includes the one-hour consultation, the project plan, the schedule and the offer.
